RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Due to the obstacles to reaching some educational institutions due to the mobilizations that are part of the national strike, the Ecuadorian Ministry of Education ordered that 573 schools in 12 provinces remain in distance learning to ensure the integrity of the students.

The Ministry announced it on its Twitter account, where it published a link with the list of the schools.

Shortly before, the Undersecretary of Education of Zone 8 (Guayaquil, Durán, and Samborondón) informed, through an official statement, that 47 schools located in the south of the Main Port, corresponding to circuits 4 and 5 were returning to distance education until further notice.

However, it is expected that the lists of campuses to apply this measure will be continuously updated according to the scenario in each jurisdiction.

The Ministry of Education stated that, of the total number of educational establishments in the country, 3.56% had been affected by the demonstrations involving road closures, affecting 3.26% of students in the national territory.

The Ministry emphasized that returning to face-to-face classes after the COVID-19 pandemic is a crucial step in learning recovery, so it called for not violating the right to education.
