Covid passport mandate for travelers to Venezuela suspended

By · September 1, 2022 · 2 min read

The Venezuelan government announced Wednesday that it has decided to suspend the registration and presentation of the Biosafety Passport (Biocheck Automated System), which all travelers must present when entering the South American country.

The country introduced the Covid passport obligation only a month ago.

The announcement was made through an official communiqué issued by the National Institute of Civil Aviation (INAC), and the text indicates that the measure takes effect immediately as of today.

The communiqué explained that the suspension of the health control mechanism is to “facilitate the protocols for entry into the national territory.”

However, it clarified that all passengers seeking entry into Venezuela must present to authorities their complete vaccination schedule and/or a PCR-RT test for COVID-19 with negative results.

In addition, the text states that citizens must “comply with the instructions of the health authorities.”

“The Venezuelan Aviation Authority urges airlines to comply with the biosecurity protocols established by the Bolivarian government to protect the order and welfare of the Venezuelan population,” the Venezuelan authority said.

Despite the suspension of the hygiene mechanism, which consisted of a procedure to electronically validate passengers’ vaccination schedule against COVID-19, INAC reiterated its commitment to combat the new coronavirus.

To date, the Caribbean nation reports epidemiological control of the COVID-19 infection curve and a 99 percent cure rate.
