Three groups plan to use ocean water to capture and store CO2, expanding the state’s efforts to combat climate change.
Chevron’s Carbon Capture Initiative
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) emphasizes the need to remove at least six billion tons of CO2 annually by 2050.
This is necessary to limit global warming to 1.5°C, even with significant emission reductions. Chevron also plays a key role with its carbon capture and storage project in Kern County.
