Brazil sets export record of nearly US$200 billion in first 7 months of 2022

Between January and July 2022, Brazilian exports reached a record US$200 billion. This amount is 20% higher than the US$160 billion recorded in the same period last year. The data comes from the Ministry of Economy.

So far, the transformation industry has contributed just over US$100 billion in 2022. That is, its share in Brazil’s record exports was more than 50%. Rural production contributed 25% and extractive industries 22%.

In the ranking of buyers, China comes first with US$55 billion – or about 30%. The United States was second with US$20 billion (10% of the total). However, European Union countries were responsible for a total of US$24 billion (12%), surpassing the North Americans.

Brazil also broke import records. In the first seven months of 2022, it was almost US$155 million. Almost 90% of this amount was spent on products in the processing industry.

In this case, China and the United States also appear as Brazil’s main partners. Brazilians bought US$33 billion worth of Chinese products and US$30 billion worth of U.S. products.

Nevertheless, the country achieved a surplus of almost US$40 billion. This figure is only below the positive balance of 44 billion U.S. dollars recorded between January and July 2021.
