In action to challenge the registration of the candidacy, PRE-RJ invokes that Witzel was sentenced by a mixed court to forfeit the mandate and be incapable of holding public office for 5 (five) years after his impeachment in 2021.
The conviction was used as an argument by TRE-RJ members who participated in the vote to reject Witzel’s candidacy.
In various votes, Witzel received 140 votes against and only one in favor.
