Venezuela and Iran sign more than 200 science and technology agreements

Venezuelan Minister of Science and Technology Gabriela Jiménez announced Monday that her country and the Islamic Republic of Iran signed more than 200 agreements during the closing ceremony of the Iran-Venezuela 2022 Science, Technology, and Industry Fair.

The preliminary agreements reached at the event held at Poliedro in Caracas are limited to industry, health, telecommunications, and agri-food sectors.

The Venezuelan minister said they are “significant agreements suitable for national production processes.”

Jiménez explained that more than 40 business meetings would be held simultaneously as part of the work plan of the Venezuela-Iran Joint Committee, which aims to reach another 60 bilateral preliminary agreements.

79 science and technology companies from Iran attended the event in Venezuela, which was attended by more than 300 Venezuelan companies and various public institutions in the country.

The Venezuelan government pointed out that the event is part of the measures being carried out to strengthen the South American country’s economic agency and ensure the sustainable development of industry and the national economy.

Jiménez described Expo Feria as “an intense exercise in mutual listening, understanding, building complementarity, strategic alliances, exchanges, technology transfer, business, and cooperation.”
