The President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, offers his traditional morning press conference, called Mañanera, from the Treasury Hall of the National Palace, in Mexico City.

WHO’S WHO IN THE LIES OF THE WEEK?

Elizabeth Gacía Vilchis, reader of the section, denied that there are caves and a fossil in the construction of the Mayan Train.

TRADITIONAL MEDICINE IN MEXICO

After a question from a reporter, the president of Mexico explained the importance of traditional medicine and asked for more information to be released “on what is being done to further open up the possibility of participation of those who are dedicated to traditional medicine,” such is the case of midwives.

CASE OF MARÍA ELENA RÍOS

Regarding the case of the saxophonist María Elena Ríos, the president said that she will be given protection wherever she is.

He also assured that the secretary Rosa Icela Rodríguez has attended to her.

REAL ESTATE CARTEL CASE

López Obrador assured that there will be no impunity in the case of the Real Estate Cartel and said that we must wait for the investigations to conclude, in addition to requesting that there be trust because the matter is being seen by the capital prosecutor, Ernestina Godoy, who is “a straight, strict, honest and incorruptible woman.”

“I have known her for many years and this authority can be trusted,” she commented and criticized the fact that in the Benito Juárez mayor’s office, where public officials used to ask for permission to build buildings, she always won a match “as if it were good honest rulers.

ECONOMIC SITUATION IN MEXICO

“The two phenomena that affect our economy are external,” AMLO stressed, referring to the crisis due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the conflict in Ukraine.

“We have less contracted debt than what Peña and Calderón contracted,” López Obrador said when mentioning the pandemic.

AMLO CHALLENGES TO PRESENT EVIDENCE OF NEOLIBERAL REFORMS FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PEOPLE

López Obrador challenged those who still defend the neoliberal model to present evidence of any reform, program or action that during that regime has been given for the benefit of the people.

Contrary to this, the president pointed out this Wednesday morning, thousands of aviation workers were left on the street -such as the Mexican airline-, electricians, railroad workers; and innumerable injustices also occurred against peasants and ejidatarios, among other actions contrary to citizenship.
