Independents and opposition to dominate Chile’s constituent convention

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - Independent citizens and the center and left-wing opposition, which was fragmented in the historic elections of the weekend in Chile, would obtain more than two-thirds of the 155 seats in the convention that will draft the new Constitution, according to the first results with more than 50 % of the votes counted.

The right-wing, which presented itself in a single list formed by the ruling parties, would be the big loser of this election by obtaining less than one-third of the seats, the percentage necessary to influence the content of the new Magna . . .
