Argentina: Agroexports increase 27% during 2021
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Argentina’s exports of agricultural products reached US$14.367 billion, 27% more compared to 2020. Its agro exports reached 105 destinations globally, and of the total, five markets concentrated 57% of shipments, highlighting Brazil with 17% share and Vietnam and South Korea with 7% each.
This is according to the results provided by FreshFruit, in accordance with the entity’s evaluations, which also indicate that Argentina has an agro-export basket made up of more than 270 agricultural products. However, only two foods account for 71% of its supply, namely corn (56% share) and wheat (15%).

In this context, the company specialized in trade intelligence for the agro-export sector stressed that the concentration occurs “in products with very volatile prices because they are commodities”.

In the case of corn, 35,853,286 tons were exported for US$8.047 billion, 3% less in volume and 32% more in value compared to the previous year. With this product, Argentina reached 115 destinations around the world; however, the most important ones were Vietnam (17% share), South Korea (13%), and Egypt (10%).
Wheat shipments amounted to 8,474,354 tons for US$2.122 billion. Compared to the previous year, exports of the fruit fell 11% in volume and remained similar in value. There were 46 destinations for Argentine wheat during the period analyzed, the most important being Brazil, with a 62% share, and Chile, with 10%.
