The Salvadoran Ministry of Defense plans to approve a budget of U$250.6 million for 2023.
This is slightly less than the current year's budget, which is US$256.6 million.
El Salvador's Defense Minister, Vice Admiral René Merino, defended his institution's 2023 budget before Wednesday the Legislative Assembly (unicameral congress).
The draft 2023 general state budget allocates US$250.6 million for defense, including US$17.7 million for public investment.
