Brazil wants the latest in kamikaze drones munitions technology

The Brazilian Army is seeking information about advanced unmanned aerial systems (UAS), also known as kamikaze drones.

These remotely piloted munitions (RPMs) can stay aloft for variable periods of time depending on the model, and are designed to locate and attack predetermined targets using their onboard explosives.

In a Request for Information (RFI), the Brazilian Army Commission has asked for quotes on two types of these systems – one with a range of up to 10 km, and another with a range of up to 40 km.

The request includes 14 units of the former and 6 of the latter, all fully operational, along with mission simulators, inert ammunition for handling, and support equipment for training.

Although Argentina’s army was the first in South America to acquire these advanced UAS, the Brazilian Army’s interest suggests that more South American armies might follow suit.

Various international manufacturers, including Israeli, American, Chinese, Russian, and Iranian firms, currently offer these advanced systems.

The Brazilian Army’s previous exploration of these technologies indicates a growing interest in modernizing their defense capabilities.
