Bolsonaro Shows Signs of Insanity, Writes ‘The Economist’ News Magazine

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Jair Bolsonaro shows signs of mental insanity, points out the British magazine The Economist, in a report published this weekend. “Bolsonaro has coupled defiant rhetoric with active sabotage of public health,” the magazine says.

“The governors of the most important states in Brazil have gone ahead and imposed lockdowns using their own powers. Bolsonaro encouraged Brazilians to ignore them. A man who fears betrayal and has a perpetual need to provoke, he was greeted with hugs and selfies in support of his demonstration against Congress on March 15th,” the Economist recalled.

“Even by his own standards, Bolsonaro’s violation of his primary duty to protect lives has gone too far. Much of his government is treating him like a difficult relative who shows signs of insanity,” the magazine says.

“Bolsonaro is supported by a small circle of ideological fanatics who include his three sons, the faith of many evangelical Protestants, and the lack of information about covid-19 among some Brazilians. The last two factors may change as the virus reaches its fatal peak in the coming months”.
