Behind Bitcoin’s Calm: ETF Whiplash And A Fragile Liquidity Pool

Bitcoin woke up near $108,900 on Thursday with little drama. The quiet, though, hides what really moves prices now: money flowing in and out of spot exchange-traded funds.

After strong inflows on Tuesday, U.S. bitcoin ETFs flipped to roughly $100 million in net outflows on Wednesday—enough to keep BTC pinned in a tight $108,000–$109,000 band.

Ether mirrored the pattern: a small net outflow followed Tuesday’s gains, leaving ETH around $3,845. The story behind the story is liquidity. After the Oct. 10–11 plunge, several large trading firms briefly stepped back, and order-book depth has yet to fully recover.

In thinner markets, ETF flows act like a tide: when money comes in, prices lift quickly; when it leaves, rallies stall. That’s why a single day’s flow print can outweigh a week of headlines.

Solana was the outlier. Hong Kong’s approval of a spot SOL ETF, slated to begin trading next week, gave the token a rare, regulated on-ramp outside the United States and helped it hold the low-$180s even as most altcoins drifted.

Bitcoin Coils as Liquidity Drives the Market

Technically, bitcoin is coiling. On the daily chart, momentum gauges sit mid-range and volatility bands have narrowed after the mid-October shock. Resistance layers stack around $109,500–$111,000 and $113,000–$115,000; supports cluster near $108,000 and $106,000.

The four-hour view is flat: a sustained push above ~$110,000 could squeeze toward $112,000, while a slip below $108,000 risks a move to $106,000. ETH trades beneath a $4,000–$4,200 cap, with $3,680–$3,700 first support.

Under the surface, speculative rotation returned: RIVER (+78%), COAI (+68%), AIA (+55%), YB (+23%), and RECALL (+18%) outperformed on modest volumes, while BLESS (−22%) and XPL (−8%) lagged. Funding looked stable: USDC traded at 0.9996 with an estimated $76.6 billion float.
