RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Uruguayan Minister of Public Health, Daniel Salinas, announced on Wednesday, February 23, the elimination of the vaccine passport for outdoor events and the provision of 100% capacity for activities in enclosed spaces whose attendees have full vaccination.

The health portfolio “recommends allowing the development outdoors of all activities, with 100% capacity, without covid vaccine control,” Salinas announced.

He also added that “there will not be a maximum duration” of the events.

On the other hand, the Health Minister announced that those who catch Covid with three doses of the vaccine would have to isolate themselves for five days and not seven anymore, reported El Observador newspaper on its web page.

Salinas also announced that “no quarantine or isolation will be requested” to children and adolescents “if they are fully vaccinated” and present Covid-19 positive symptoms.

“Children and adolescents who have had Covid-19 in the last 60 days will not be quarantined, nor if they have two or three vaccinations according to the schedule for their age and comorbidity status” in case of an outbreak in a class, the Minister clarified.

However, those students who have one dose, are not vaccinated, or have passed the 60 days of infection “may be reinstated on the eighth day of the last exposure, and do not require a test”.

In the case of tertiary schools, quarantine will not be requested in any case, although symptom monitoring and immediate consultation in case of presenting symptoms will be required.

Teachers and educational assistants will only be quarantined if they have only one dose or are not vaccinated.
