The unemployment rate falls in Brazil to 8.7% in the third quarter, the lowest figure since June 2015

The unemployment figure in Brazil for the third quarter stood at 8.7%, a reduction of just 0.6 tenths compared to the second quarter of the year, which leaves the total population without work at 9.5 million people, according to data from the National Household Sampling Survey (Pnad), released this Thursday by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).

All in all, this percentage is the lowest since the second quarter of 2015, when a rate of 8.4% was registered. Compared to the third quarter of 2021, the total number of unemployed people fell by approximately 4 million.

By region, it should be noted that unemployment remained stable in 21 of the 27 States that make up Brazil, with very slight falls, while the greatest reductions (between 0.8% and 1.9%) occurred in the six remaining states. In addition, in some territories of the country, the unemployment figure is still above 13%.
