Soybean exports from Brazil soar in the first week of January; beef advances

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Brazil exported 150,800 tons of soybeans per day in the first week of January, a jump from the daily average of 2,470 tons seen in the first month of last year, showed data from Secex (Secretariat of Foreign Trade) released today, January 10.

The movement occurs with larger stocks of 2021 since the harvest of the new crop is just beginning in Brazil. In January last year, the supply of the old crop was limited.

Furthermore, data from the federal government indicate that the pace of beef shipments started to grow again after a period of drops during the embargo from China due to two atypical cases of the “mad cow” disease in Brazil.

According to Secex, the daily average of beef exportation reached 7,100 tons, against 5,370 tons shipped per day in January 2021.

According to Secex, Brazil exported 150,800 tons of soybeans in the first week of January alone.
