President Jair Bolsonaro shared some of these videos on his networks and announced that “the Brazilian Navy was deployed to the scene immediately after the unfortunate accident” and “will take over the rescue of the victims and the transport of the injured.”

Divers stopped searching overnight for safety reasons, but other rescuers continued to work at the site, the Navy said.

The number of missing was estimated based on “information from witnesses, travel agencies, and family members,” Col. Estevo said.
