The Blue Note SP opens the week with pianist João Taubkin presenting “Um Silêncio Extraordinário” at 20h — a concert that draws its power from what is not played, from the breath between phrases, from the silence that makes music extraordinary. Taubkin is joined by Zé Godoy and Vitor Cabral for a programme that sits in the intimate, listening-room tradition the Blue Note does best. The Conjunto Nacional venue on the second floor of Av. Paulista, 2073, offers the closest thing São Paulo has to a New York jazz club experience: tables close to the stage, low lighting, serious sound engineering. The late session at the Blue Note SP shifts from the meditative silence of João Taubkin to the full-throttle energy of Jake and Elwood Blues. “Tributo Blues Brothers — Mission for Soul” by Skobah takes the stage at 22h30 — expect sunglasses, suits, horn sections, and the catalogue that made the Blues Brothers a cultural institution: “Soul Man,” “Everybody Needs Somebody to Love,” “Sweet Home Chicago.” The tribute format works particularly well at the Blue Note: the room is intimate enough that the brass hits you physically, and the crowd on a Tuesday late session tends to be the music-obsessed night owls who appreciate both the originals and the homage. The Casa de Francisca’s Porão — the underground stage beneath the Palacete Teresa — presents Tiziu do Araripe tonight at 21h30. José Ferreira de Souza, known as Tiziu do Araripe, is a Fortaleza-born musician who has been based in São Paulo since 1974. His credentials run deep: he has recorded and performed with Luiz Gonzaga, Dominguinhos, Agnaldo Timóteo and Martinho da Vila, and has composed more than 200 songs. His shows blend his own compositions with the canon of Northeastern masters — Alceu Valença, Jackson do Pandeiro, Trio Nordestino, Luiz Gonzaga. The Porão opens at 19h30 — the first 100 audience members enter free, with tickets distributed at the bilheteria from 18h40 to 20h30. The Bar Brahma on Av. São João, 677, is one of the few major venues in São Paulo that operates every single day — including Tuesday. The art-deco interior, the stained glass, the waiters in bow ties, and the house band playing MPB and samba standards make this the city’s most reliable nightlife anchor on quiet weeknights. The live music programme runs from the afternoon, with the main show typically starting around 20h. No cover for the bar area — the cover applies for the main salão. The kitchen serves classic botequim fare: coxinha, bolinho de bacalhau, picanha. On Tuesdays the crowd is lighter, the sound carries better, and the bartenders have time to talk. Rabo di Galo operates nightly from 19h inside the Rosewood São Paulo on Rua Marquês de Itu, 836, in Consolação. The speakeasy format — walk-in, no reservation — makes it one of the most dependable options on any night of the week, including Tuesday. The cocktail programme is anchored by Brazilian spirits: cachaça-based drinks, tropical fruit infusions, and a rotating list that changes with the season. The atmosphere is low-lit, intimate, and pleasantly decoupled from the Rosewood hotel lobby — entering Rabo di Galo feels like finding a bar that doesn’t want to be found. On a Tuesday, the bar is quiet enough for conversation and attentive enough for cocktail exploration.
