Rio Beach Vendor Tents to Have New Standard Design This Summer

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The development of the new product stemmed from a request from the vendors to the IED – Istituto Europeo di Design (“European Design Institute”), which set up a group of teachers and students to research and study the subject.

Those who frequent the beach have their point of reference in the tents, called “barracas”. It’s the meeting point, the place where you spend a morning, or enjoy the sunset while drinking a caipirinha. Tent vendors realized they should enhance their work environment.

The design project developed by IED was approved by the vendors and the deputy mayor of the South Zone, Marcelo Maywald.

Each new tent will have a covered area of 16 square meters (4m x 4m), with an aluminum structure and canvas tops, in a range of colors that includes the surrounding palette: sea, sand, mountains, sky and sun.

The project was developed by students Erick Araújo and Lívia Cavalcanti and teachers Ale Rese and Flavia Souza. On October 10th, 2019, the new beach tent will be introduced to twenty sponsors by Rio de Janeiro vendors at the IED headquarters in Urca.
