Monday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – Tonight Metropolitan in Barra da Tijuca will host a Lollapalooza Sideshow with the British rock band Mumford & Sons playing to open the night and English indie rock band Florence + the Machine returning to the city to perform live.

Florence + the Machine were previously in Rio as part of the lineup of the 2013 Rock in Rio festival.

Both bands will make their way to Rio de Janeiro tonight following their performances as part of the 2016 Lollapalooza Brasil music festival held in São Paulo last weekend.

Audio Rebel Convida Curated by Chico Dub (Botafogo)
Tonight Audio Rebel in Botafogo will host the first of seven nights of Audio Rebel Convida. Curated by cultural producer Chico Dub, the series features performances of contemporary music, free improvisation, sound installations, dance performances and a discussion with Brazilian and international artists. Tonight the Abstrai Ensemble will perform live. Created 2005, the Abstrai Ensemble is known for combing traditional instruments including vocals, flute, sax, clarinet, guitar, piano, violin, cello, double bass and percussion with new technologies.

Florence + the Machine and Mumford & Sons (Barra da Tijuca)
Bands Florence + the Machine and Mumford & Sons will perform live at Metropolitan in Barra da Tijuca tonight.

Rio Boat Club (Lapa)
The one and only Rio Boat Club is back tonight. Things will get started at 11PM with happy hour. Lasting until midnight, drinks will be free for women and there will be two-for-one specials for men. The boat will then leave the Marina at 12:30AM. DJs Ricardo Martins and Bruno Lima will spin the best of house, hip hop, pop, Brazilan funk and reggaeton as the boat makes its way around the Bay with beautiful views of o Pão de Açucar, Cristo, Museu de Arte Contemporânea and the Rio-Niterói bridge.

Guimo’s Glow Party (Copacabana)
The Glow party returns to Guimo’s Pub in Copacabana tonight with black lights, glow sticks, DJs and drinking games. DJs Cauê, Angola, Jonatan K, and Rafael Pyro spinning the best of trap, reggaeton, funk, pop, and hip hop throughout the night. Promotions will include two-for-one specials on beer, caiprinhas, Cuba Libre, and Sex on the Beach all night. Additionally, shots of tequila and vodka will be distributed throughout the party.

Roda de Samba with Rixxa (Lapa)
For a great night of dancing and singing, head to Lapa’s Carioca da Gem. Vocalist Rixxa, accompanied by brilliant percussionists and members of thme Zeca Pagodinho band, will provide three hours of lively samba.

On Monday nights in February, the Leviano bar in Lapa is presenting Lunes Sessions . Clandestinos, led by Udi Fagundes, will perform their reinterpretations of works by Manu Chao, Chico Science, Jorge Benjor, Bob Marley during the night.

Roda de Samba Pedra do Sal (Saúde)
It’s time for the best of samba as the weekly Roda de Samba returns tonight to Pedra do Sol tonight. Group members Rogerinho Familia, Walmir Pimentel, Pc Correa, Wando Azevedo, Juninho Silva, Peterson Vieira, and Junior Travassos host the event every Monday night, weather permitting, beginning at 6PM. The weekly Roda de Samba events are known for their casual and easygoing atmosphere with people dancing well into the night.

Mab’s Restaurant and Bar (Copacabana)
This American-owned restaurant and bar on Copacabana Beach is a great place for food, drinks and entertainment. Additionally, Tony Boka will be playing at Mab’s Mondays through Saturdays from 6PM to 10PM. Boka is known for his varied repertoire that always pleases the crowd.

With classic pub games like darts and pool, Ipanema’s Shenanigan’s is always a great spot to visit. Monday through Friday, Happy Hour is 6PM to 8PM and Monday is half price steak night starting at 8PM.
