Petro’s Colombia: Conservative event canceled due to threats from communist groups

The Pan-American Forum of Young Politicians, which was to take place October 27-29 in Bogota, had to be canceled due to the increasing political violence in the country ruled by the extreme left.

The biggest political action event of young conservatives in Latin America, the Pan-American Forum of Young Politicians, was scheduled to take place in Bogota, Colombia, on October 27th.

Communist groups took it upon themselves to make death threats against the main speakers at the Forum. In addition, the location was threatened, and the Organizing Committee could not guarantee the event’s security.

“This resolution is based on severe episodes such as the latest direct and indirect threats that some of the Forum’s exhibitors and volunteers have suffered.

“This without ignoring the atmosphere of growing insecurity in Colombia since the assumption of Gustavo Petro to the presidency of the Republic,” it explains in an official statement.

“After a deep analysis, we understand that every life is worth and that endangering the physical integrity of our attendees (whether exhibitors, volunteers, or participants) is not an option as Organizing Committee, despite the expectations and circumstantial inconveniences that follow a situation like this,” he says.

“The escalation of conflicts and the crisis that Colombia is going through prevent us from having the necessary guarantees for the event to enjoy the conditions required to guarantee a peaceful development, as local and foreign attendees deserve,” he adds.

The event will be rescheduled, and perhaps the location will be changed, but the Committee assures that “these episodes will not break our will to fight.

“On the contrary, despite the setbacks, they push us even more strongly to work for a free, safe, and prosperous America.”
