Peru: President Boluarte invites her detractors to dialogue

The Peruvian president, Dina Boluarte, has asked the protesters to put an end to “violence”, inviting them to Casa de Pizarro, the seat of the Government of Peru, to discuss the reasons for their protests in the streets.

“I extend my hand and my open heart to them again to sit at a table and talk about the needs they are raising,” Boluarte said in a speech in which she was accompanied by her office.

“I call on the brothers and sisters who are still in the streets to reflect, let’s stop the unnecessary confrontation and look at the country we want, with change and hope; let us give a message of peace, of legal, political and social security so that investments and tourists come, we are a people of peace and development,” she asserted.

The Peruvian president has thanked, in turn, the security forces for “guarding life, health and tranquility” in the cities where protests have been registered.

Likewise, Boluarte wanted to thank those citizens “who are betting on peace and not on violence, who are betting on continuing their normal lives, going to work or studying, within a society that walks in peace.”
