The Central Bank of Paraguay (BCP) reported that, as of August 2022, total exports reached a value of US$9.4 billion, being 1.6% lower than the US$9.5 billion achieved in the same month of 2021.
The BCP’s Foreign Trade report detailed that, as of the eighth month of the year, registered mobilizations represented 72.6% of the total, reaching US$6.8 billion, 6.9% lower than the accumulated value as of August of the previous year.
Re-exports, on the other hand, with 23% of the total, registered a value of US$2.2 billion, an increase of 24.9% over the same period last year.

Other exports, with a 4.4% share, recorded a 15.1% decrease compared to the value accumulated up to August of the previous year, reaching a level of US$415 million.
The reduction observed in registered shipments is mainly explained by lower soybeans, electric energy, and rice shipments.
Movements under the maquila regime reached US$670 million, 19.7% higher than that recorded in the eighth month of 2021.
IMPORTS
As of August 2022, total imports reached US$9.9 billion, 25.5% higher than in the same period of the previous year.
The entry of products to Paraguay accounted for 96.1% of the total, reaching a value of US$9.6 million, which translates into 26.3% higher than the value as of August 2021, while other imports accounted for the remaining 3.9%, for a value of US$387 million. In volumes, a reduction of 8.2% was observed.
As of the eighth month of 2022, the trade balance recorded a deficit of US$586 million, a different result from the surplus recorded in the same period of 2021.
