Paraguay exported 60,000 tons less soybeans

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – A total of 60,492 tons less soybeans were exported by Paraguay in the first two months of the year due to weather conditions, while revenues were higher compared to the same period of 2021.

The foreign trade report of the Paraguayan Chamber of Grain and Oilseed Exporters and Traders (Capeco) states that during the first two months of 2022, 593,254 tons of the oilseed were desalted, a reduction of 60,492 tons, 9% less than in the same period last year when 653,746 tons of soybeans were traded.

Although there was a reduction in terms of the volume of grains shipped to February this year, exports allowed an income of US$208 million, while in the first two months of last year, US$37 million were generated, a figure that represents US$171 million more than the first two months of last year.

The Foreign Trade advisor of the association, Sonia Tomassone, explained that of the total exports up to the second month of 2022, 389,124 tons correspond to the new harvest.
