Market Freefall Halts: Bitcoin Holds Key Levels While Litecoin Rallies on ETF Optimism
The cryptocurrency market on February 27, 2025, experienced a much-needed reprieve as the relentless sell-off that had gripped digital assets for a week finally slowed.
Bitcoin (BTC) hovered around $85,679, down 3.39% for the day, but crucially avoided breaching key support levels. Ethereum (ETH), XRP, Solana (SOL), and Litecoin (LTC) also showed mixed performances, reflecting cautious optimism among traders.
The market’s stabilization followed reduced selling pressure and technical indicators suggesting a potential bottoming phase. Bitcoin’s Relative Strength Index (RSI) stood at 45.2, signaling neutral territory, while Ethereum displayed bullish divergence in its falling wedge pattern.
These developments came as ETF outflows slowed significantly, with Bitwise’s ETF even recording a modest inflow of $17.6 million. Litecoin emerged as the standout performer of the day, gaining nearly 10% to trade at $130.
Optimism surrounding a potential Litecoin ETF approval by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission fueled its rally. The regulator’s request for public feedback on Canary Capital’s filing increased the odds of approval to 76%, according to analysts.
This narrative drove substantial trading activity, with large transactions exceeding $100,000 rising by 6%. Solana traded at $139, slightly above its support zone of $136. Its deeply oversold status attracted buyers, hinting at a potential recovery in the coming sessions.
Crypto Market Overview
Meanwhile, XRP struggled to hold above $2.21, down 7.71%, despite significant whale accumulation of 390 million tokens over the past three days. Bitcoin ETFs saw net outflows of $266 million, but this marked a slowdown compared to recent weeks when panic dominated the market.
Analysts attributed this shift to easing macroeconomic fears, including speculation about a pause in U.S. interest rate hikes and stabilizing inflation data. Despite ongoing uncertainty, traders expressed cautious optimism about the near-term outlook.
Market maker Avinash Shekhar noted that Bitcoin holding above $83,000 could signal a broader recovery. However, resistance at $89,000 remains formidable.
While volatility persists, traders are closely monitoring Litecoin’s breakout potential above $140 and Ethereum’s ability to reclaim $2,527. With reduced ETF outflows and technical support holding firm, many believe the worst may be over for cryptocurrencies—at least for now.
