JPMorgan Sees Uptick in Brazil’s B3 Exchange for November
JPMorgan expects a more favorable foreign capital flow to Brazil’s B3 Exchange in November.
Despite recent sluggish foreign investments, Pedro Martins Junior of JPMorgan believes this trend could improve.
He attributes the low interest mainly to global factors, such as rising U.S. interest rates.
Martins Junior explains that $22 billion left emerging market funds in the last quarter. About $1.5 billion of that amount came from Brazil.
According to him, U.S. interest rates remain the most significant risk. He downplays concerns about conflicts in the Middle East and Brazil’s local fiscal issues.
JPMorgan sets a target price of 135,000 points for the Ibovespa index by the end of 2023. However, a more pessimistic view places it near 110,000 points.
When asked about other factors, Martins Junior mentions the fluctuating oil prices. He sees Brazil benefiting from higher oil prices due to increased tax revenue.
Regarding China, Martins Junior thinks it’s becoming a positive factor again. He says the Chinese GDP growth is recovering, which could benefit Brazil.
In his view, Brazil is gaining more appeal compared to other emerging markets for three reasons.
First, Brazil has room to cut interest rates. Second, Brazil’s stock market is undervalued. And third, China’s GDP is rising above market expectations.
In summary, Martins Junior remains cautiously optimistic for November. He cites stable U.S. rates and Brazil’s improving fundamentals as potential boosts for the B3 Exchange.
