The BCP added that year-on-year inflation was 11.5%, higher than the variation of 11.4% registered in May 2022, and also higher than the 4.5% rate indicated in June 2021.

According to the BCP, the rise in inflation in the country is a consequence of the increase in prices registered in fuels, services, the cost of intercity land transport service and international buses, as well as health expenses.
As for the food item, increases were noted in cereals and their derivatives, which had an impact on the value of bakery products and pasta.
During a meeting of the Monetary Policy Committee on June 30, the BCP stated that as of the third quarter of the year a moderation in inflation is expected.
