Indigenous people of Paraguay march on the 530th anniversary of the arrival of Spaniards in America

Organizations of indigenous peoples of Paraguay march through the center of Asunción to demand that the Government stop evictions and deforestation of the lands they inhabit, and commemorate the struggle and resistance of the native peoples of America on the 530th anniversary of the arrival of the Spaniards to that continent.

“If an agreement is not reached [with the government], we are going to analyze the conditions and then we are going to give the information on whether we stay or if we leave. “We will see that later,” said Mario Rivarola, one of the leaders of the indigenous sector, to the local station ABC Cardinal.

He added that the march plans to pass through the Ministry of Public Works, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Children.

The indigenous people began to arrive on October 10 in the country’s capital to participate in the march on October 12.
