RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Currently one of the biggest names in modern rock, the American band Imagine Dragons returns to Rio de Janeiro on Thursday, April 16th to perform live in Citibank Hall in Barra da Tijuca. The show is part of the tour to promote the band’s second album.

The Las Vegas based quartet previously performed in Citibank Hall during April of last year, with that show preceding their appearance on the 2014 São Paulo Lollapalooza music festival line-up. Both shows were part of the band’s Into The Night Tour, the São Paulo appearance marking the final show of the tour.

The tour was held in support of the band’s 2012 debut album entitled, Night Visions. To date, the album has sold more than 2.5 million copies worldwide. It includes the singles “It’s Time,” and “Radioactive,” a massively successful hit that went on to earn the band the 2014 Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance.

The album also included the single, “Demons,” which, to date, has sold over 4 million copies in the U.S. and remained in the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100 charts for twelve weeks following its release. It also peaked at number 5 on the Billboard Brasil Hot 100 charts.

This month Imagine Dragons return to Brazil on the heels of the recent release of their second album entitled, Smoke + Mirrors. Well-received both critically and commercially, the album debuted at the number one spot on the Billboard 200 chart on its release day, February 17th. The album includes the singles “I Bet My Life,” “Gold,” and “Shots.”

“We really wanted Smoke + Mirrors to feel like an old, warm record yet also be pop music that’s very current,” guitarist Wayne Sermon told Mike Mettler of Digital Trends during an interview earlier this month.

Formed in 2008, by lead vocalist Dan Reynolds with Wayne Sermon, and drummer Andrew Tolman, current members are Reynolds and Sermon with bassist Ben McKee and drummer Daniel Platzman.

Following their show in Rio on the 16th, the band will return to São Paulo to perform on the 18th.
