First light aircraft plant “made in Paraguay” to start operating next January

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – “Everything is well underway. I believe that Paraguay will be in a position to build its first aircraft, although many do not believe it. But from April next year we will start assembling the first aircraft, among other projects,” he stressed.

The company is incorporated in Paraguay, assisted by Parquet & Asociados law firm, UEBP – Union of Brazilian Entrepreneurs of Paraguay and Rediex.

The project schedule foresees that the first certified training aircraft made in Paraguay will be launched in 2 years. Wega Aircraft will also incorporate the first aeronautical engineers graduated this year from the National University of Asuncion (UNA). This will be a giant leap for the country, placing Paraguay on the global aeronautical stage.

Wega Aircraft executive Paulo Falcão said that the project is in its final phase, with all agreements in place, as well as the incorporation of the Paraguayan aircraft industry. He confirmed that it will be located at Guarani Airport, in Ciudad del Este.

“Next week we will have a meeting with the Paraguayan Industrial Union (UIP), so that Paraguayan investors can also have access to this project. The aircraft certification process will also be conducted,” he said.

PARAGUAYAN MANUFACTURE

The Wega Aircraft executive also explained that this will be the first time that aircraft will be assembled in Paraguay, but clarified that manufacture is purely Paraguayan. “Aircraft parts will be manufactured here, there are 5,000 parts that make up an aircraft. The engine will be imported from the USA and the propellers from Germany, while the rest will be manufactured in Paraguay,” he explained.

He stated that initially there will be 50 technicians, comprising aeronautical and robotics engineers, among others.

He also pointed out that the aircraft to be manufactured will be exclusively for military use, for defense and control of border crossing points. Once installed, in its fourth year of certification the company will proceed to build 5-seat aircraft.
