Colombian President announces international meeting to promote dialogue with Venezuela

Colombian President Gustavo Petro announced he would convene an international conference to seek dialogue with the Venezuelan regime after the two countries have resumed bilateral relations.

“I will convene in Colombia an international conference to build the roadmap that will allow an effective political dialogue between the Venezuelan society and the Venezuelan government”, Petro has indicated through his official Twitter profile.

According to information from the Colombian government, the meeting will be held in Bogota, and countries from Europe, Latin America, and the United States will be invited, as reported by W Radio.

For his part, the Foreign Minister, Alvaro Leyva, said Petro would proceed “to make a call for many Western countries regarding this dialogue”.

“The president is a convener in terms of participation beyond the United States to precipitate an understanding with Venezuela, and even more, all opposition countries will also be invited”, he stated, as reported by RCN Radio.
