Donald Trump’s name is back in the news, not for an election, but as a candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize. Both Israel and Pakistan have nominated him, each pointing to different moments where they say Trump helped reduce conflict.

Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, officially nominated Trump for his work on the Abraham Accords. These agreements normalized relations between Israel and several Arab countries, opening up new opportunities for trade and cooperation.

The Nobel process is private and takes months. After the February 1 deadline, the committee reviews all nominations, consults experts, and narrows the list.

They make their final decision by majority vote in October. The winner gets a medal, a diploma, and 11 million Swedish crowns (about $1.15 million), plus worldwide attention.
