However, make no mistake when thinking that these hostels in Rio de Janeiro do not guarantee comfort: quite the opposite, as some of them provide a swimming pool, cinema, a generous breakfast, privacy, extra services and incredible views of the Marvelous City.

The British newspaper The Telegraph recently released a list of the six best hostels in Rio de Janeiro, where it provides a summary of each accommodation and a review with further details about each option. Find out which hostels were chosen and plan your trip:

Villa 25 Hostel & Suites

The Villa 25 is located in a recently renovated historic residence and converted into a hostel. Located in the neighborhood of Laranjeiras, a historic part of Rio, the property boasts a swimming pool surrounded by sun loungers, a bar with several drinks options and beds with curtains for greater privacy in the shared dormitories.

Selina Lapa Rio

A few minutes away by car from the main beaches of Rio de Janeiro, Selina Lapa is located in the most bohemian region of the city, close to bars and a lively nightlife. With well-organized and spacious dormitories, it can accommodate up to 400 guests, offers co-working space and houses a terrace that provides a beautiful view of the sunset.

Gaia Comfort Hostel

Gaia Comfort Hostel, located in Botafogo, is very close to the subway station and the beach. With great cost-benefit, it is well lit by skylights that allow light to flow in. With comfortable accommodations, it is close to several tourist attractions in Rio de Janeiro, such as the Sugar Loaf and Copacabana, enabling guests to get around.

Injoy Design Hostel

Injoy Design is located in a colonial mansion in the Botafogo neighborhood. All rooms are decorated with wallpapers depicting different cities. In addition, the shared dormitories are divided between male and female and feature bunk beds with a modern design. The private rooms are centered around a lobby, catering to both independent travelers and couples.

Beach House Ipanema

The Beach House is an option for those who wish to visit the beautiful beach of Ipanema. With wooden details, the hostel has a unique charm and is also very cozy. It boasts a beautiful garden shaded by palm trees and a swimming pool, a point for guests who wish to socialize. The property also provides extra services, such as surfing lessons, hiking trails and entrance to parties.

021 Hostel

Located on the border of the Flamengo and Botafogo neighborhoods, the 021 Hostel still retains the appearance of the village in the early 20th century that used to be there. Vines and a mango tree add a special charm to the property, creating a tropical atmosphere. It has two small but very cozy private rooms, as well as the comfortable shared dormitories.

The Maze also made it into the ranking, but because the hotel was recently closed, it is no longer listed.
