Brazil’s ten tallest buildings: six are in Balneário Camboriú, Santa Catarina State
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – When we talk about skyscrapers in Brazil, the first thought that comes to mind is that they would be located in large cities such as São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. However, the fact is that most of the tallest buildings ever built – or those that are already off the drawing board and under construction – in the country are located in Balneário Camboriú, a coastal city in Santa Catarina State, with an estimated population of 150,000.
According to the specialized website The Skyscraper Center, six of the ten tallest buildings on record are located in Balneário Camboriú. Of these, only two are finishing work and infrastructure, but the structural part of the towers has already been completed.
Recently, the city hall of Balneário Camboriú forwarded the approval to construct a building, on the beachfront, with 140 floors and about 500 meters high. According to The Skyscraper Center, if the construction work had already been completed, the Triumph Tower would be the second tallest skyscraper globally in the number of floors and the tallest in Latin America.
These are the developments being launched amid the competition for the title of tallest building built in Brazil.
ONE TOWER
