Mercado Libre buys stake in Mercado Bitcoin and Paxos

Last May, Mercado Libre announced it had bought US$7.8 million in bitcoin for its treasury.

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - Mercado Libre on Thursday announced it has bought a stake in 2TM, parent company of Mercado Bitcoin, and blockchain platform Paxos, without disclosing amounts, as Latin America's largest e-commerce website expands its stake in transactions involving digital currencies.

In a partnership with Paxos in December, Mercado Libre began offering cryptocurrency trading (bitcoin, ethereum, and USDP) through its digital accounts.

Last May, Mercado Libre announced that it had purchased US$7.8 million in bitcoin for its treasury . . .
