Bolivia: Relatives pay tribute to victims of Senkata massacre in 2019 crisis with mass and ceremonies

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The victims of the Senkata Massacre will be paid tribute this Friday with a mass, a memorial wall and other events to demand justice for their deaths 2 years ago, to be held in the city of El Alto, announced Association of the Relatives of the Deceased chairwoman Gloria Quisbert.

“We invite all brothers, sisters, those who are listening to me, tomorrow (Friday) we are marking two years. We have organized a small tribute to the memory of those who died. The ceremony will be held tomorrow in the city of El Alto (…). More than anything else, we are calling for justice,” she said.

The leader explained that the planned activities will begin with the presentation of the wall with the portraits of the deceased and their names, as well as some written messages from their relatives.

Subsequently, there will be a walk to the San Francisco de Asis Chapel in the 25 de Julio area, for a mass beginning at 3 PM. “In the same church there will be a 10-minute data show, displaying what we went through in Senkata,” she added.

The representative of the victims’ relatives said that a ceremony will be held later in the 25 de Julio square, where the anthem of the city of El Alto will be sung, as well as a minute of silence and speeches by municipal officials and the leaders of several social organizations.

She reiterated that each of the events will be held with calls for justice, because the deaths in the Senkata Massacre cannot go unpunished. “That is what we want, justice is what we have been seeking up to now and we will not stop until the culprits are in jail, because they are still free,” she finalized.
