87.8% of the population of El Salvador approves of the work of President Nayib Bukele in his three and a half years in office, according to a survey by the research unit of the opposition newspaper ‘La Prensa Gráfica’, LPG Data.

The president maintains high levels of approval in all polls published in the country.

The newspaper adds that the approval of the head of state rose one point in relation to the previous investigation, carried out six months ago, but it is 4.7 points lower than its highest point, reached on completing his first year in government, on 1 June 2020.

Those consulted point to the improvement of public security -particularly the fight against gangs-, the management of the COVID-19 pandemic and improvements in the health, education and highway sectors as Bukele’s main achievements, the survey indicates.

According to LPG Data, in terms of failures, the first mention at this time is for the implementation of bitcoin as legal tender, the increase in the price of the basic basket, the application of the exception regime and arbitrary arrests.

Bukele, who took office on June 1, 2019 for a five-year term, maintains high approval ratings in all polls published in the country.
