Argentine court allows 13-year-old boy to change gender despite mother’s refusal

The Court noted that the central axis of gender identity revolves around the personal experience of gender as each person internally feels and lives it. The right to the gender identity of children and adolescents imposes a duty on judges to consider their best interests over other interests.

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - An Argentine family court has allowed a thirteen-year-old teenager to change the gender on his birth certificate, even though he only had his father's consent because his mother did not agree to the change.
