Two Russian airlines applied for flights to Brazil last week, but were rejected

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - Two Russian airlines that applied for permission to operate non-scheduled flights to Brazil have been denied. The information was provided to AEROIN by sources close to the process. The companies in question are iFly and AirBridge Cargo (ABC).

The airlines requested permission to operate flights from China to São Paulo with various cargoes in both cases. However, the requests were denied 'due to the restrictions of the air transport agreement' signed between Brazil and Russia, which does not provide for occasional operations and limits the operation to two weekly frequencies.
