Man breaks into a daycare center and kills 4 children with axe in Brazil’s South
A brutal attack on a daycare center in Blumenau, in the Itajaí Valley in Brazil’s Santa Catarina state in the south of the country, on the morning of Wednesday (5) left four children dead, according to state military police.
Early in the morning, a man broke into the Bom Pastor daycare center, located on Rua dos Caçadores, in the Velha neighborhood, and attacked the children there.
Another child was seriously injured.

The gun used in the crime has not yet been located.
According to preliminary information, the suspect turned himself in to the police authorities, but his age and identity have not yet been revealed.
Parents, police cars, and ambulances are on the scene.
MOURNING
The governor of Santa Catarina, Jorginho Melo, decreed official mourning of three days in the state due to the tragedy and expressed regret on social networks:
“It is with enormous sadness that I receive the unfortunate news that the private daycare Cantinho do Bom Pastor in Blumenau was invaded by a killer who attacked children and staff.”
“Unfortunately, four did not resist and died, in addition to three wounded.”
“I immediately determined the action of our security forces, which are already on the scene.”
“The murderer is already under arrest. I leave here my complete solidarity.”
“May God comfort the hearts of all the families in this moment of deep pain.”
SIMILAR CASES
This crime comes just days after similar cases.
Early last week, specifically on March 27, a 13-year-old teenager attacked the Thomazia Montoro State School in São Paulo, resulting in the death of a 71-year-old teacher.
One day after the case, a 15-year-old student tried to attack fellow students with knife blows, on March 28, at the Manoel Cícero municipal school, in Gávea, in Rio de Janeiro’s South Zone.
The minor tried to stab his classmates and was restrained by other students and staff members.
