Bolsonaro Earns Worse Rating Than Governors in Fighting Covid-19

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – On Monday, March 23rd, Datafolha released a survey showing that President Jair Bolsonaro’s performance in relation to the disease has earned more disapproval than that of governors and the Ministry of Health.

According to ‘Folha de S.Paulo’, the survey was conducted over the telephone between March 18th and 20th with 1,558 people and showed that Bolsonaro’s management of the pandemic has been approved by 35 percent, while governors have earned the approval of approximately 54 percent of respondents.

Regarding the performance of Minister Luiz Henrique Mandetta (Health), 55 percent rated it as excellent or good, 31 percent rated it as fair, and 12 percent rated it as bad or terrible. Regarding governors, the average approval was 54 percent.

The South was the region with the highest approval of its governors, with 61 percent.

Furthermore, according to the study, 26 percent of respondents believe Bolsonaro never exercises his powers properly in relation to the coronavirus crisis, while 20 percent believe he does so only occasionally. At the other end of the scale, some 20 percent say he always acts properly, while another 27 percent  say he acts correctly most of the time.
