A small plane crashed, killing the pilot in the Brazilian city of Belo Horizonte on Saturday (11).

According to authorities, the Cessna 182 (PT-FLK) aircraft had crashed into several residential buildings, and the 60-year-old pilot was trapped in the wreckage with his 33-year-old daughter.

The female passenger was taken to João XIII Hospital and is in “serious condition.”

This was not the only plane accident this Saturday in the Belo Horizonte metropolitan area.

Another plane with six people on board, including a 2-year-old child and a 3-day-old baby, crashed in a mountainous region, but no one was injured.

According to local media, at least nine accidents involving light aircraft have occurred in the region around Carlos Prates Airport.

One occurred four years ago when a plane crashed into several vehicles in Bairro Caiçara, killing three people and seriously injuring several.

Mayor Fuad Noman deplored the accident and announced that he would travel to Brasilia on Tuesday to present a proposal to the federal government to deactivate the Carlos Prates Airport.
