Brazil: Alckmin says the fiscal framework will consider surplus and debt evolution
The vice-president of the Republic and Minister of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services, Geraldo Alckmin, announced on Monday (13) that the new fiscal framework, drawn up by the federal government to replace the spending cap, should stipulate a spending limit associated with the fiscal surplus and the evolution of public debt.
According to the minister, the new rule should be forwarded to the National Congress within two months.
According to Alckmin, a meeting with the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, is scheduled in the coming days to discuss the issue.

“The new framework] should be voted on in a complementary law, which should be forwarded to Congress in the next 30, 60 days.”
“It should consider the spending limit, the debt curve, the evolution of the debt, and the issue of the surplus. It is a combination of several factors.”
“We will wait for the Minister of Finance, after the approval of President Lula, to announce it”, he said.
