Bolivia temporarily suspends vaccination card requirement after protests

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Bolivian Government decided on Wednesday, January 19, to suspend the presentation of the vaccination card against coronavirus and the negative PCR test for the duration of the sanitary emergency in the country after a series of protests.

The certificate will not be required in medical services, pharmacies, educational registrations, interprovincial transportation, markets, identification procedures and police services, access to justice, attention to financial entities, and recruitment for military and pre-military service, detailed in a press conference the head of the portfolio, Jeyzon Auza.

Auza emphasized that before passing the decree 4.641, the daily vaccination reached 34,372 doses, and after the implementation of the norm, it increased to 89,555 doses per day, an increase of more than 100%.

As of Tuesday, January 18, 11,289,634 doses of the different vaccines were applied throughout the national territory.
