Bilateral trade with Brazil is the highest in the last 8 years -Argentine ambassador

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Argentine ambassador in Brazil, Daniel Scioli, celebrated the “permanent investments” and the growth of trade between Argentina and Brazil and considered that the Southern Common Market (Mercosur) summit, to be held this Friday virtually from Brasilia, “will go smoothly”.

“Trade with Brazil is the largest in the last eight years”, said Scioli this morning in an interview with Radio 10 and added that there are “permanent investments that expand the industrial capacity installed in Argentina”.

In the prelude to the Mercosur summit to be held in Brasilia, he projected that “everything will go smoothly, in respectful terms and especially with the progress we are seeing”.

The summit, as officially reported, will focus on issues such as value addition, technology and employment generation.

The ambassador ruled out that the change of modality of the meeting, which was going to be held in person, was due to the presence of former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, in the event held on December 10 in Plaza de Mayo in the framework of the Democracy and Human Rights Day, where President Alberto Fernández, Vice President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner and former Uruguayan President José “Pepe” Mujica also participated.

“One cannot think of an angry Jair Bolsonaro”, said Scioli and explained that the virtualization of the summit is due to the increase of coronavirus cases and the “movements of the new variant” Omicron.

Likewise, the former governor of Buenos Aires stated that “all controversies have been overcome” with Brazil and insisted on the good development of bilateral relations, mainly “in the energy and food issues”.

Along the same lines, he announced that there is a “very important projection, particularly in the energy sector for next year” and that work is also being done in the “cultural and science and technology sectors”.

“My work agenda is to generate employment and bring foreign currency to the country”, concluded the Ambassador.
