At least eight people run over and killed at Carnaval in Bolivia

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – According to a medical report, at least eight people were killed and several injured Sunday, February 27, when they were hit by a vehicle after a Carnaval parade in central Bolivia.

“We have eight deceased at this moment. There are many more injured. I don’t have a number at this moment,” said the doctor on duty at the local hospital, Bernabé Escalera.

Among the dead, there are musicians and dancers who were leaving after performing in the parade, and also a boy of about ten years old added the doctor.

The accident occurred in the town of Independencia, 150 kilometers from the regional capital, Cochabamba. Some of the seriously injured were taken there.

The causes of the accident are unknown, and the police have not yet made any statement.
