Argentina-Brazil border at Uruguaiana/Paso de Los Libres now open 24h per day

By · November 13, 2021 · 1 min read

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The daily limit of 300 people to enter the neighboring country from Brazil has been lifted. The restrictive measures were implemented in 2020 as a measure against Covid-19.

Now, residents of Uruguaiana or within 50 km of the city may cross to Paso de Los Libres with an antigen test, valid for 24 hours from the date of collection, or a PCR test, valid for 72 hours.

The border between Uruguaiana, in Western Rio Grande do Sul, and Paso de Los Libres, Argentina, reopened 24 hours a day.

Full vaccination is required at least 14 days prior to entry, while proof of residence and insurance are not needed, the consulate said.

Argentina began to gradually reopen its borders in October, allowing entry to residents of neighboring countries, such as Brazil. The border reopened to all foreigners in November.
