6 of the 10 most visited water parks in Latin America are in Brazil

Brazil has become the ideal destination for those who enjoy water parks in Latin America, according to an assessment by the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA/AECOM), which released its annual index of the most visited theme parks in the world on Friday (14th).

Six among the 10 most visited aquatics in the last year in the region are in Brazil. Thermas dos Laranjais, in Olímpia, in the interior of São Paulo, stood out as number one in the Latin American ranking, which had a 28% growth in movement between 2020 and 2021 and received 1,179,000 people in the last year.

There were also good performances at Hot Park Rio Quente, in Rio Quente (GO); the Beach Park, in Aquiraz (CE); the Magic City Water Park, in Suzano (SP); Thermas Water Park, in São Pedro (SP) and Hot Beach, also in Olímpia (SP).

The latter incidentally had an impressive jump between 2020 and 2021: 144%, according to TEA. Hot Beach went from 243,200 patrons in 2020 to 594,000 in 2021.

THERMAS DOS LARANJAIS

Inaugurated in 1987, the Thermas dos Laranjais has 55 attractions spread over an area of ​​300,000 square meters. The park has radical rides as its flagship.

The biggest highlight is the Water Roller Coaster, the only one in operation in Brazil, in which the visitor slides on a buoy that is pushed by jets of water along the entire 370-meter long path.

Another toy that guarantees good doses of adrenaline is the Legendary, a waterslide with five lanes, two with buoys and three with capsules, where tourists can reach speeds that exceed 70 km/h.

In August, it was announced that the park will expand its facilities to include a new attraction that will be the most radical in its portfolio, scheduled to open in 2024.

Named “Nações”, the launch will have two large main water slides starting from a tower 33 meters high. The descent will be done using buoys, with two to six people at a time. With an investment of R$60 million, the novelty will be installed within the current area of ​​Thermas dos Laranjais.

Also in the plans are the construction of an attached area of ​​more than 1 million m², acquired for more than R$30 million. The new toy, however, is not part of this second phase of the expansions.

Thermas dos Laranjais is located at number 1543 of Avenida do Folclore, in Olímpia. Tickets cost between R$55 and R$110 and can be purchased on the website.

BETO CARRERO IS A PROMINENT THEME PARK

Already in the list of theme amusement parks, Beto Carrero World, in Santa Catarina, won second place in Latin America with 1,895,000 visitors in 2021, an increase of 51% in relation to its performance in the previous year. This is the only Brazilian representative on the list, headed by Six Flags Mexico.

The largest theme park in Latin America in terms of extension, Beto Carrero World is divided into different “fantasy” territories, such as the medieval-inspired Germanic Village where you can find Shrek; the “Animal World”, where you can get to know animals up close; or the “Radical Adventure”, dedicated to breathtaking attractions such as free-fall elevators and roller coasters.

The park also offers food options close to each toy or activity in a model similar to that of Disney parks, in Florida, and accommodation close to the complex in inns and partner hotels in the region.

Passport for a day of fun costs R$159.90 and is valid for visitors between 5 and 59 years old (children from 0 to 4 years old do not pay and those over 60 are entitled to half-price). There are also valid ticket options for more days of tours.
