Brazil Politics - Brazil

Voting intentions for 2022 elections of Lula and Bolsonaro both increase by one percentage point – Datafolha

By · September 17, 2021 · 2 min read

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – In just over 12 months, Brazil will hold its presidential elections. Datafolha and other polling firms regularly survey the voting intentions for the distant polls, even though these are hardly decisive since 12 months can be an eternity in politics.

A September survey by the Datafolha firm shows the latest voting intention indexes for the 2022 presidential election. Compared to the survey conducted by the institute in July of this year, the race remains stagnant as neither candidate has improved beyond the margin of error.

A survey by the Datafolha firm shows the latest voting intention indexes for the 2022 presidential election. Compared to the survey conducted by the institute in July of this year, the race remains stagnant.

The latest survey interviewed 3,667 people between September 13 and 15 in 190 Brazilian cities; the margin of error is two points plus or minus, within the 95% confidence level.

In the previous scenario of the first round of elections, Lula had 26% of voting intentions and now has 27%. Jair Bolsonaro had 19% and now has 20%.

In the second round, in a two-way contest, Lula has 56% – he had 58% in the prior report – against 31% for Bolsonaro, who has maintained the same rate as in the previous survey.
