Venezuela and Bolivia signed a joint declaration reaffirming their commitment to Latin American and Caribbean integration and promoting their bilateral relations during an official visit to Caracas by Bolivian Foreign Minister Rogelio Mayta.

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro received Mayta this evening at Miraflores Palace, the seat of government, and declared that “we share with the Bolivian people the vision of consolidating a more just, sovereign and united humanity.”

“Our goal is to build a world of cooperation and brotherhood”.

During his visit, Mayta also met with his Venezuelan counterpart Carlos Faria and the Executive Branch Vice President, Delcy Rodríguez.

During the Foreign Ministers’ meeting, they agreed to sign the joint declaration reaffirming the solidarity, complementarity, and fraternity between the two nations.

In the declaration, the two countries reaffirmed their “unwavering commitment to the Latin American and Caribbean Union” and their willingness to strengthen integration mechanisms.

These mechanisms include the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – Trade Agreement of the Peoples (ALBA-TCP), and the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR).

They also agreed to “strengthen cooperation in the areas of economy and trade, ecology, energy, mining, tourism, air links, communications, legal assistance, education at different levels, culture, security, and defense.”

They signed their “full commitment to the promotion and defense of the sovereignty as well as the self-determination of peoples”.

They condemned the “imposition of unilateral coercive economic harassment measures that affect the Venezuelan people’s right to development.”

They announced that the two countries would soon hold the second meeting of the Mechanism for Bilateral Political Consultations and Agreements in the Bolivian city of La Paz.
